TOUR | SAFARI LOS LLANOS

NO DOUBT THIS IS THE LARGEST RESERVOIR OF WILDLIFE IN VENEZUELA. MORE THAN 300 SPECIES OF BIRDS, ENORMOUS REPTILES, ENDLESS SAVANNAS LOST IN THE HORIZON, AND THE CULTURE OF THE "LLANERO" AWAIT FOR YOU IN THIS: OUR FAVORITE DESTINATION IN VENEZUELA!
Description:

The Plains, or Los Llanos as locally known, represent 45% of the total surface of Venezuela, its vast plains and savannahs are crossed by rivers that flooded in the rainy season, create marshy and swamp habitats that host a myriad of wildlife species. Considered one of the largest reservoirs of biodiversity in the Americas, is comparable only to the Everglades of Florida and the Brazilian Pantanal. A unique landscape where you can see more than 300 species of birds, huge reptiles like the green anaconda and the spectacled caiman, amazing mammals like the Capybara (locally known as Chigüire) and the anteater, just to name a few species. Our trips to Los Llanos take place in Apure State, the largest of the region, with an area of 76,500 km2, and a very low population density, which results in a greatest concentration of wildlife.

For years we have specialized in this location, which not only offers visitors a unique landscape always facing the horizon and in contact with multiple species of wildlife, but also brings us closer to one of the cradles of Venezuelan traditions, the culture of The Llaneros, an important character in the historical and cultural development of Venezuela.

No matter where you are, you can join one of our tours. The morning of the first day will be used for the trip to Barinas. In case of departure from Merida this will be in the morning and you'll cross the scenic trasandina road, making stops at emblematic sites such as the stone chapel of San Rafael de Mucuchíes and the beautiful Laguna Mucubají on the highest point of the route at 3,500 meters. If you go on a tour from Coro, the trip to Barinas will be a little longer, so iwe'll start earlier in the morning. We'll take the coast road and have beautiful views of the Morrocoy National Park.

  • This itinerary may change depending on weather conditions at the time and the influx of visitors. Los Llanos can be visited throughout the year, but keep in mind that nature changes radically in the dry and rainy seasons. During the dry season, the savanna is very arid and dry with some water repositories, where most of the wildlife gathers. During the rainy season much of the territory is covered with water, creating a vast and majestic scenery but the wildlife is more scattered. In both cases, Los Llanos is a unique experience and one of the "must" destinations of Venezuela

 POSSIBLE TOUR COMBINATIONS:

Los Llanos can be combined with a dose of adrenaline at a rafting camp in the foothills of Barinas (+2 days) Merida and surroundings (+3-4 days), The Catatumbo lightining (+2-3 Days) And with flights from Barinas you can connect with the east of the country in order to visit (Canaima, Delta and Gran Sabana). Ask us about these possible combinations that will gladly help you to enrich your visit to this beautiful region of Venezuela!
